On Demand Seminar Information: For faculty and staff who missed the seminar held on December 13

The online seminar held on December 13 is now available on demand.

Seminar Outline

Seminar theme: Toward a More Accessible Academy: Learning about "Obligation to Provide Reasonable Accommodation" in accordance with the revision of the Act for Eliminating Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities

Lecturer: Jun Murata

Associate Professor, Center for Integrated Student Support, Kyoto University Chief Coordinator, Support Room for Students with Disabilities Director, Higher Education Accessibility Platform (HEAP)

In May 2021, the Act on the Elimination of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities was amended to make the "provision of reasonable accommodation" a "legal obligation" for businesses (including private universities), rather than an "effort obligation.” This seminar aims to provide a deeper understanding of "Reasonable Accommodation," to learn how to make appropriate judgments and responses in day-to-day education and business activities, and to consider issues that should be addressed in the future. Many faculty and staff members participated in the seminar and were able to deepen their understanding of this topic from their own perspectives. However, since there were many people who were unable to attend the seminar, we are offering a limited time video viewing of the seminar in both Japanese and English.
